I hope no one is dissappointed when they read this blog. I like to detail everything that I do, partially for my mom, and because I have a really bad memory. It may seem a little boring to read about the weather, but I like to document the weather every so often so that I can keep a farm journal that contains temp and rain info.

Today was another day of swim lessons for Hannah. She has 3 more days until her swim test. I really believe she will pass. Afterwards we dropped Lauren off at April's. She is spending the night with LeighAnn. I surely hope she behaves her self. She is getting more and more "teenagery" and not always a joy to be around. When you bring her attention to her behavior she acts totally surprised, or irritated. I never know which one it will be.

April, Ashley and I spent the afternoon talking, drinking Starbucks and having lunch. It was really nice. Ashley moves back to Virginia this weekend, unfortunately. I really believe it is a bad idea for her to do so, but she is a big girl. I just worry about her because she doesn't have good influences in a few of her friends and many of our extended family. I hope once she finishes colleges that she moves back down, but I don't think she will. I wish my mother had never moved back to Virginia. I hate that our family is so spread out. I am really glad that at least April and Ann are here. We may irritate each other every now and then, but we do love each other, and I believe it's important for families to stay close. Something that can't be done long distance, effectively.

On arriving home, I rearranged my extension cords. I plugged the computer into the outlet, after moving the armoire and hurting my shoulder. I used the extension cord to plug the washing machine in so that I could do some laundry. I managed to wash one quilt before getting distracted by the baby. He is very fussy, I think he is teething. I gave him some Motrin, a bath and massaged him. After nursing him, he fell asleep. He should sleep until around 3 a.m. which is good. Hope it's not TMI, but I think I have Mastitis. I've also been drinking my Mama's Milk Tea to increase the milk available for James.

The temp today was 104, partly cloudy, windy.

Made Skillet Hash for dinner, very good. Trying to cook more variety. Hope to remember to put my bread in the bread machine in the morning before leaving for swim lessons, we are out of bread.

The goaties are so cute, and eating more vegetation. I love how they run after me in the morning and want me to feed them. They rub their heads and little horn buds on my leg. It's very cute. The three stooges (the three bucks) are getting less aloof and the littlest one (Curly) wanted me to scratch his head this morning.

Well, off to bed.

I really wish I knew why I could no longer upload pictures to this blog. I really like being able to have everything in one place. Very dissappointing.

We spent most of the day at our monthly church fellowship. After worship we stayed at one of our member's, ate and swam until 4 p.m., before heading home.

Swim lessons start up again tomorrow morning, and Hannah has her swim test on Friday.

The baby goats are weaned, and eating Calf Manna milk pellets and browsing.

A baby chick died, it was sleeping with the goats, and it got squished. It was the full blood Cuckoo Maran too! Darn it.

Temp of 102 today, sunny, and breezy. We are scheduled for thunderstorms this week, please pray we receive LOTS of rain.

It's Saturday evening, and I am taking time to update this blog. It was a good day today, thought it did max out at 104. Yikes! The wind was blowing good, and my laundry dried rapidly. Each load took about an hour, which is about how long the dryer would take. I finished the majority of the laundry, still have several comforters to get washed and stored away for the winter. No room in the cabin.

We bought another AC today for the living room (I use this word loosely, as it is far from a "room") The space is about 8 feet by 8 feet. I have the tv armoire on one side with a wing chair and a wooden table and a rocking chair parallel from it. The computer is butted up against the wood stove on top of my treadle sewing machine. This arrangement will have to change when winter arrives and we need to use the wood stove. For now, it is a great arrangement.

No amount of AC cools the cabin down during the day, but about 6 p.m., they can be turned on to cool the place down so that we can have some relief and sleep easier.

I do curtain off the bedroom area from the loft above using heavy blankets. This keeps that small area (8 X 8) extremely cool. I keep James in here during the day, and take turns playing with him in between cleaning, etc. I think I mentioned this before.

I was up early this morning feeding the animals, and baking. I baked two long loaves of banana bread, a peach crisp and an apple crisp. Trying to use up my fruit before it goes bad.

Pray for some rain.

I have lots of pictures to upload, but apparently the image loader on Blogspot is not working at this time.

I am winding down my packing, decluttering and cleaning of the house. I have the living room, dining room, bathrooms, master bedroom, nursery, Taylor's room, and the girl's rooms empty. My time is being focused on the kitchen and laundry room. The foyer is full, as I move things to be loaded into there. I am SO tired of moving. It is very hard to move 20 years worth of stuff. I found stuff I forgot I had. I have thrown out over 30 trashbags full, and have a front porch loaded with clothing and miscellaneous items to take to the church for their rummage sale.

I shot a rattlesnake on Friday night, it was 5 feet long. The girls came running into the cabin saying it had struck at them. It was located in the barn behind a trash can and Rodney's air compressor. I shot at it with my Golden Boy .22LR (great gun by the way!) The first two shots missed it's head and embedded into it's midsection. It started writhing and headed under the compressor. I pulled it out by it's tail, and then aimed and shot it in the head. I was so proud of myself. I have a picture of the snake, and will upload when Blogger is working again.

Well, the baby is sleeping so I'm off to finish cleaning. I need about five more rubber maid tubs to finish the job.

One of my sisters turns 35 today. Happy Birthday!

By the way, I escaped the chains that my wonderful DH (smirk, smirk) had on me that kept me chained to the hovel/container/cabin. Just kidding! Really, it was ALL my idea to move out to the land and live in it, though I did want the container under the trees in the shade. I just lost that battle, because it was too expensive to run electricity 500 feet to the shade. So, now I live in a Convection Oven in the summer, and a freezer in the winter LOL!

We are just about out of the blue house, we have six days to be done. I think I will actually make it.

It's been so hot that we have been hanging out at the blue house during the day and heading out to the land after dark. I don't know what we are going to do once we no longer have this house to fall back on. The library, the pool, DQ, Bonita's ;-) I've also reapplied to be a Mystery Shopper, that way we will spend our times in the car AC, or the stores I am assigned.

Looking for LOTS of alternatives. I can handle the cold much better than the heat.

July Already!

I can hardly believe the time has flown. James will be 5 months old tomorrow! He has his first tooth, rolls and scoots all over the floor. He laughs a lot, and drools a river. He has a definite temper though and HATES his car seat. He screams and arches to be out of it the entire car ride. Very nerve wracking to drive with a crying baby.

Cleaned the dining room today and packed the car. The kitchen will be tomorrow.

Had to do some juggling of the bills this week, as we need to purchase goats or cattle ASAP in order to keep our ag exemption.

Gotta go feed the baby, more later.

The weather today is hot and humid, we are expecting thunderstorms. Please pray! We desperately need the rain, as the entire state is in a drought. We did have 6 inches in May, and while I am grateful for that amount, we need a flood. Oh, I don't want anyone hurt, killed or major loss of property, but a flood like we had a couple of years ago would do wonders for our aquifer levels, stock tanks, and general morale.

I sent the kids out to do an Indian rain dance last night, but they weren't feeling their inner Cherokee.
